Finance Manager

About the Role

Our client, a well-established and growing organisation in Malta, is currently seeking a Finance Manager to join their Finance team. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional looking to take on broader responsibilities and play a key role in supporting the financial management of multiple business units and joint ventures.

What is expected of you?

• Prepare and post monthly journals, accruals, prepayments, and other general ledger entries as part of the month-end close process
• Take ownership of the preparation and compilation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis against budgets and forecasts
• Support and coordinate month-end and year-end financial reporting activities
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations
• Produce and analyse monthly payroll reports
• Prepare and submit statutory returns, including VAT returns
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning activities
• Liaise with external auditors and assist in the preparation of audit files and supporting documentation
• Ensure effective communication within the Finance Department and escalate any issues to the CFO when required
• Safeguard the financial integrity of the business through the implementation and maintenance of sound financial controls and procedures
• Support the CFO in the financial management of assigned business units and joint ventures

What are you expected to bring?

• Fully ACCA qualified or in the final stages of completing the ACCA qualification
• Previous experience independently compiling management accounts
• Experience working directly with external auditors and supporting audit processes
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, accounting principles, and month-end procedures
• Knowledge of local finance and taxation legislation
• Experience using accounting software and ERP systems; knowledge of Sage 50, Shireburn Financial Manager, or similar systems will be considered an asset
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work effectively under pressure
• Professional approach aligned with the company's values
• Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken
